Introduction
The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari is a fantastic book, and likely well ahead of its time. First published in 1997, this book has all the information that is now becoming mainstream. Does that mean it’s dated and not worth reading?
No.
The content may be similar to what you’ve already heard about, but the way it’s delivered is what matters. Two people can talk about the same thing, but only one of them may engage you and explain it in a way that you best understand.
Robin Sharma does that in this book, and in most of his books. He tells the story in a way that engages you and almost transports you into the story.
And I think, given that some of the content is now becoming mainstream will only serve you better, as you’ll be able to take it to the next level, rather than trying to see and understand it for the very first time. You’ve actually got an advantage.
So what’s it about?
The story centres around an extremely successful lawyer, Julian Mantle, who has a rude awakening in the courtroom – a heart attack. It forces him to take stock and re-assess his life and the destructive path his addiction to success and his career had taken him down, to confront the spiritual crisis of his out-of-balance life.
He throws in the towel, decides to sell all his beloved possessions and trek to India. On a life-changing odyssey to an ancient culture, he meets Himalayan yogis who offer powerful, wise and practical lessons that teach us to: Develop joyful thoughts; Follow our life’s mission; Cultivate self-discipline and act courageously; Value time as our most important commodity; Nourish our relationships; Live fully, one day at a time.
Julian returns to one of his old colleagues and close friend, John, the person who is actually telling the story, and imparts the wisdom to him, in order to help John avoid the same initial fate that he experienced. In this way, the book teaches the reader the same fantastic practical principles and techniques to implement the simple, yet profound lessons that were shared by the yogis.
The book brilliantly blends the timeless spiritual wisdom of the East with the cutting-edge success principles of the West. This inspiring tale has shown millions of people around the world how to live with greater courage, balance, abundance and joy.
This extraordinary tale takes you through the steps and processes to implement to ensure that you live a life of purpose, joy and prosperity.
Conclusion
An internationally bestselling fable about a spiritual journey, littered with powerful life lessons that teach us how to abandon consumerism in order to embrace destiny, live life to the full and discover joy. This inspiring tale is based on the author’s own search for life’s true purpose, providing a step-by-step approach to living with greater courage, balance, abundance and joy.
